Merryl Tisch Elected Chancellor of NYS Board of Regents

CFE Cites Tisch as Longstanding Supporter

New York - "The Campaign for Fiscal Equity congratulates Merryl Tisch on her election by the Board of Regents to serve as New York’s next Chancellor. We thank outgoing Chancellor Robert Bennett for his service. Chancellor-elect Tisch’s work with the Board of Regents has demonstrated her understanding that setting high academic standards is only part of the equation for ensuring that our students receive the quality education they need to contribute in the global economy and participate in the civic life of our communities. Standards must be coupled with adequate resources for every student, school and district. Likewise, accountability measures must be coupled with enforcement. Chancellor Tisch has been a long standing supporter of CFE from the courtroom to the classroom. Her insight and commitment to full and fair funding, accountability and active parent and community input will help ensure that that the CFE promise is fulfilled even in these challenging economic times," said Geri D. Palast, Executive Director, Campaign for Fiscal Equity.
